How to Rip DVD to BlackBerry Z10

BlackBerry Z10 Review

The good: RIM dug deep to give the slick-looking BlackBerry Z10 enough features to satisfy both consumers and professionals -- like a good camera and a sharp user interface.
The bad: The Z10's unintuitive gesture paradigm creates a learning curve, and a long list of OS inefficiencies and omissions sour the experience. The bare-bones maps app and a deficit of camera features are two examples.
The bottom line: Though it's not quite enough to draw committed iPhone or Android owners, the BlackBerry Z10's modern design and features give BlackBerry fans what they've hungered for.

Members of the BlackBerry Faithful, meet your new phone. The BlackBerry Z10 has everything you've been waiting for: a sleek, modern, and professional touch-screen body with an up-to-date OS to match and 4G LTE support. You'll revel in the virtual keyboard's ease and in BlackBerry Messenger's seamless voice chats. You'll crow about the Z10's Micro-HDMI port, and enjoy the 8-megapixel camera with its built-in editing tools.

In the most important ways, everything comes together: a lovely HD screen, a fast processor, a camera (with tricks!) that's good enough to stand alongside those of the big boys.

Slip off the RIM-colored glasses, though, and you won't be able to ignore the minor hardware and OS irritations that nevertheless pile up as you use the Z10 over time -- like having to use an antiquated and unintuitive file system to create a new photo album, and a basic mapping app that can't possibly stand up to Google's best-in-show. For their part, BlackBerry detractors will plainly see a poor iPhone clone that offers little more than the usual features found in any present-day OS worth its salt.

How to Rip DVD to Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro Review

The good: The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro offers a lot of features for its size. It has an attractive user interface and a comfortable keyboard.
The bad: The Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro lacks camera-editing options, and its small size can hamper usability. It's stuck on Android 1.6, and its volume level is rather low.
The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro is still too small for a full-fledged Android smartphone, but the added physical keyboard greatly improves usability.

As with the X10 Mini, the most notable thing about the X10 Mini Pro is its diminutive size. Unlike almost every other smartphone on the planet, you can hide it behind a credit card, and if you have especially large mitts, you might be able to close your hand completely around it. At 3.3 inches tall by 2 inches wide by 0.7 inch deep, the X10 Mini Pro is slightly taller and thicker than its X10 Mini counterpart, but we'll gladly take the added bulk for a full keyboard. The X10 Mini Pro remains quite light (4.2 ounces), so you won't feel burdened carrying it around.

The 2.5-inch display and Sony Ericsson's User Experience interface are unchanged from the other phone. As we said before, the display is fine for browsing through menus and most basic features, but it's too small for higher-end functions. As with the X10 Mini, some will appreciate the compact size, whereas others will want something beefier. It's really up to you.

How to Rip DVD to BlackBerry Q10

BlackBerry Q10 Review

The good: The BlackBerry Q10 boasts a superb physical keyboard, the latest BlackBerry OS (version 10.1), smooth performance, and long battery life.
The bad: The BlackBerry Q10’s screen is small. Its camera is average, not exceptional. BlackBerry 10’s learning curve is long and its app selection trails behind those of its competitors.
The bottom line: The BlackBerry Q10 is a great phone for QWERTY diehards and e-mail addicts, but anyone who doesn't need a physical keyboard should skip it.

A deep and luscious all-black, the slablike Q10 has an appearance that's all buttoned up and ready for business. If you've used a BlackBerry Bold or even an ancient Curve handset, the BlackBerry Q10 will feel like an old and familiar friend. I know I felt waves of nostalgia flood over me when I scooped the machine up for the first time.

The Q10 is cut in the same classic flat shape with softly rounded edges that graced other BlackBerrys. Above the 3.1-inch screen sits a large circular notification light that flashes an angry red to compel you to check your messages. Below the display is the phone's large keyboard, right where you expect it.

BlackBerry says the Q10's edges are honed from specially treated aluminum, not plastic, which though black is designed to withstand scratches and scrapes. According to BlackBerry, it also strengthens the chassis and guards against bending and flexing. I can say that while this band helps the edges feel sturdy, they do give a little when pushed.

How to Rip DVD to Sony Ericsson Satio

Sony Ericsson Satio Review

The good: The Sony Ericsson Satio rocks a 12.1-megapixel camera with advanced editing options and video recording. The Symbian-based phone offers 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and full e-mail support. The Walkman-style music player is also a nice bonus.
The bad: The Satio uses Sony Ericsson's proprietary port for the USB connector and headset. The Web browser is a little clunky to navigate, and the Symbian user interface has some inconsistencies.
The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Satio packs in a lot of multimedia power, particularly in the camera department, but it also has a number of annoyances. You can get a better overall experience with other handsets and for a lot less.

The Sony Ericsson Satio might have just been a concept phone at Mobile World Congress, but it's certainly real now. Available as an unlocked phone through Sony Style, the Satio is billed as an entertainment phone, and it's certainly got the chops to back that up. The handset boasts a 12.1-megapixel camera and some of the most-advanced editing options we've seen on a camera phone. It's also got a Walkman music player to keep you entertained when you're not busy snapping photos. That said, as much as we loved all the camera options, in the end, we were slightly disappointed by the inconsistent picture quality. Also, we're none too pleased to see that Sony Ericsson chose to forgo a more standard USB connector and headphone jack in favor of its proprietary port. The Satio may be a fine multimedia phone, but it's not necessarily worth $649. You might lose some of those extra camera features, but you can get great results from some of our other favorite camera phones and for much less.

How to Rip DVD to Sony Ericsson Vivaz

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Review

The good: The Sony Ericsson Vivaz has a sleek design, good call quality, and a heavy load of features.
The bad: The Sony Ericsson Vivaz's resistive touch screen isn't the most easy to use. Internal performance is sluggish, and data service is unreliable.
The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Vivaz offers value for its price, but we'd suggest paying extra for a more powerful smartphone.

You might say that AT&T's Sony Ericsson Vivaz is suffering from a split personality disorder. On one hand, it's a modern device with a sleek design and a selection of multimedia features. Look a bit closer, however, and you'll see an operating system that hasn't stood the test of time. Sure, the Symbian operating system was perfectly fine three years ago, but in 2010 its features and usability just don't measure up to its Android and iOS rivals. Indeed, this is one operating system that needs its impending revamp.

Outside of th OS, the Vivaz has a few high points including its camera and music player, and that attractive design. Call quality was satisfying, as well, though the sluggish internal performance and resistive touch screen can be tedious to use. At $79.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate, the Vivaz won't empty your wallet, but we'd be more inclined to pay a few extra dollars and the extra power that comes with a device like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.

How to Rip DVD to Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G Review

The good: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G integrates phone and gaming features like no other handset before it. It offers all the essential smartphone features, and call quality is respectable.
The bad: Some of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G's gaming controls are unresponsive. It lacks an HDMI-out port, photo quality is poor, and data speeds are unimpressive.
The bottom line: AT&T's Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G is ideal for gamers, but we'd prefer to see more-accurate controls, a few more features, and a faster data network.

Like its Verizon twin, the Xperia Play 4G has a bright, 4-inch display and a responsive touch screen, and the phone is big (4.68 inches long by 2.44 inches wide by 0.63 inch) and hefty (6.17 ounces). A relatively clean version of Gingerbread powers the phone, which we welcome. Sony Ericsson's Timescape interface is onboard as well, though it doesn't take away from the Android experience too much.

You'll find the same controls as on the Verizon Xperia Play for making calls, sending messages, using the standard smartphone features, and playing games. For the most part, they're easy to use, though the gaming controls pose a few challenges. The circular touch controls can be unresponsive, for example, and the shoulder buttons feel rather flimsy.

How to Rip DVD to Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Review

The good: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has a slim, gorgeous build, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and 720p HD video capture.
The bad: Several buttons on the Xperia Arc are too small, and the unlocked price would be a prohibitively expense for most. Call quality was mediocre.
The bottom line: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a beautiful handset with some great features, but a high price tag and no network optimization leave few reasons to buy this unlocked Android phone.

It may not be among the dual-core, 4G superphones that have raised the bar these days, but even nine months after we learned of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc at CES, its specifications are strong and its in-hand use satisfying.
The smartphone's sleek, slim build, rich 4.2-inch touch screen, current Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and generous 8.1-megapixel camera don't hurt, and we won't deny that it's a pretty phone to behold. Of course, specs can only get you so far. At the end of the day, the unlocked price puts the Xperia Arc far beyond most people's range, and there's already an update model waiting in the wings, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, which is sure to please. Still, this Xperia Arc is a quality device in its own right, despite some flaws.
The Xperia Arc comes in Midnight Blue and Misty Silver; we reviewed it in blue.
